Everyone is stuck in their homes amid the coronavirus lockdown and many people are finding it difficult to do daily household chores.
The same happened with a man who was tired of doing housework as his wife doesn’t make her kids do any chores around the house.
He took to Reddit to rant about the issue writing, ‘’My (37M) beautiful wife (39F) and I have been married a while now and she has three great kids, 12, 9 and 7. The kids are awesome. Coolest people I know.’’
The man revealed that his own dad passed away when he was nine and three years later, his stepdad came into his life.point 207 |
He continued, ‘’My dad died when I was 9 and my stepdad came around 3 years later.point 70 | The best thing my stepdad did was take the pressure off my mom so she could be there for us.point 143 | I idolized my dad but I loved my stepdad too and being one has made me proud – I actually get a kick out of taking over the laundry so my wife can play with her kids, or fixing their bikes so they can go ride with her.point 316 |

However, the only topic couple fight over is that she doesn’t order her kids do any chores.‘’Like none. They don’t clear their plates, they don’t sweep or vacuum, they often don’t even flush. It makes me furious with her. Even when my dad DIED, my mom kept our chore chart going. She said we all had to help each other. It gave me consistency, responsibility, pride and character,’’ he ranted.

He also talked about how his wife refused to discuss the matter of teaching the kids to clean up. He added: ‘’She has refused any and all attempts to have a conversation about how we might teach the kids to clean up and do their fair share of the housework.’’
‘’I am not asking them to scrub the floor with a toothbrush! I think while they’re home all day, they should be learning how to do simple stuff, like help with dishes or help with laundry or sweep the floors or flush the toilets in addition to playing.’’
The man said he has decided not to do any chores until the kids do. He also admitted that he loves the kids and he is not going to destroy the great relationship he built with them.
He continued: ‘’They can do 30 minutes of chores and still have 10 hours to play and enjoy themselves. Everybody should do a fair share.Because my wife refuses to even discuss this with me, I chose a different tactic.I’m not doing any more chores until the kids do.’’
‘’I’m not going to rage around being resentful, angry and exhausted all the time. Those kids are amazing – I’m not going to wreck the great relationship I built with them either. It’s their mom’s fault they’re like this, not theirs or mine. I’ll work and do basic cleaning up after myself. That’s it. My wife can do everything else, or she can get everybody on board doing their fair share.’’
He asked the Reddit users, do they think he is an a**hole? To which many supported him as one wrote, “Her kids won’t even flush a toilet?? WTF??? That’s disgusting.’’
“Does she think she’s raising humans who will be productive members of society? She’s not. Not the a**hole and stay strong.”
Another said: “She refuses to even talk with you about it. This seems like you have no choice but to do that.”
