A large herd of elephants was spotted bringing the traffic to a complete stop as they crossed a busy highway in Thailand.
The spectacular moment during which some fifty elephants were caught on camera happened on a highway in Chachoengsao where security forces arrived at the scene to ensure the safety of the animals and the people.
As seen in pictures extracted from the footage of a witness, the traffic was brought to a complete still as dozens of elephants crossed the busy road.
According to the wildlife rangers, the herd has been monitored for some time and they decided to block the road for safety reasons as the elephants got closer to the highway.
“More than 50 wild elephants crossed the highway. They were moving together from one part of the jungle to the other,” Pratya Chutipat Sakul, the person who recorded the amazing moment, said.
“The wildlife officers had been following the elephants for the last few days. When they saw that their path was moving towards the road, they called the police and urgently closed the road.
“Policemen arrived to ensure that the elephants crossed smoothly and there were no accidents. Nobody minds waiting for the elephants, as the most important thing is that they’re safe.”
As Sakul went on to say, the elephants were very calm and didn’t appear to be bothered by the people waiting for the highway to clear.
“I feel very lucky to have seen such an amazing sight,” Sakul concluded.
