A brave man was filmed saving a baby girl ejected from a vehicle after a multi-car crash left eight people severely injured.
The one-year-old girl had been thrown from a silver pickup truck that was left hanging over the guard railing.
A Good Samaritan did not think twice when he jumped into the water and saved the girl, as seen in the video filmed by another witness Tricia Michele Roberts-Oertel.
In the clip first obtained by Delmarva Now, a man in a red shirt can be seen holding the baby in his arms while swimming in the bay. He then handed over the child to a person on a private boat.
The Good Samaritan climbed into the boat and performed CPR on the girl before emergency services arrived.
Rob Korb, a photographer and an Ocean City firefighter who was at the scene moments after the crash, took to Facebook and said that a man saved the girl’s life.
“I’ve been on some crazy jobs over the years but this one will be one to remember,” Korb wrote.
Ocean City Fire Department said in a press release that firefighters rushed to the scene and secured the truck dangling over the railing as paramedics treated injured patients.
The baby was airlifted to Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital while the seven other victims were taken to an area hospital.
The Ocean City Police Department said that the exact cause of the multi-vehicle crash is still being investigated.
One person commented: “God bless this man wish him long life and happiness. Truly saved that babys life wish her speedy full recovery.”
Another wrote: “Amazing, truly a selfish act, ..wish all news outlooks lead with more good news/stories more frequently, there are plenty out there if you look…..”
