It has been rumored that Alfred Nobel decided to use his wealth for the foundation that bears his name after a journalist described him as a force of destruction and violence.
Although not as dramatic, Harry Harvey surprised many by showing up in press conference.
The reason why everyone was surprised to see the 80 year old in the conference was because his family was telling reporters how desperately they wanted him to safely return after Harvey went missing for 3 days after going out for a hike.
The retired shipyard employee was first reported as missing on Sunday afternoon when he did not return from his hike. The family had good reason to worry about his safety because Harvey has been known to be a great hiker who knew the mountains very well.
What the family did not know at the time was that Harvey was very much alive, although he was split from his team because of a storm. With just 20 pounds in his pocket, the 80 year old managed to survive by camping in the wild for 3 days and 3 nights – an incredible feat of its own.
Harvey said that the literal struggle for survival was no easy task. He said he relied on tinned beans as he had barely anything to eat, and how he lost his compass and glasses while trekking through the tough terrain. The hiker said he even fell off a tree at one point.
It was by chance that Harvey stumbled into a photographer who was taking pictures of the wild. He had veered off six miles from his last identified point. As he was waiting for rescue, Harvey said he called his wife to tell him that he’s safe, but hung up before she could get mad at him.
In a Facebook video that was shared by Tan Hill Inn via their Facebook post, Harvey can be seen reuniting with his family. He seems relatively healthy and fine sans the bandage on his forehead.
Although the brave hiker calmly recalled the days that he spent out in the woods, his two adult children said that it was a much tougher time for them because they did not know for certain.
