Hillary Clinton has partnered up with her Canadian friend and author Louise Penny to come up with her first novel and her first fiction work.
The 73-year-old former Secretary of State is set to publish her first novel, the State of Terror, after collaborating with Penny to create a political mystery like no other.
The fiction work is set for an October release and will feature the story revolving around a novice Secretary of State tasked with getting together a team to get to the bottom of a deadly conspiracy after the global order is thrown into disarray following a series of terrorist attacks.
According to the book’s description, the story will be set in the time of a newly inaugurated president who comes after “four years of American leadership that shrank from the world stage.”
“This high-stakes thriller of international intrigue features behind-the-scenes global drama informed by details only an insider could know,” the publisher’s blurb reads.
Speaking of her first novel, the former Secretary of State said working on the political thriller together with her author friend was a dream come true.
“I’ve relished every one of her books and their characters as well as her friendship. Now we’re joining our experiences to explore the complex world of high stakes diplomacy and treachery. All is not as it first appears,” Clinton revealed in a statement.
Expressing her delight over the upcoming fiction work was also Penny who said it was an “incredible experience” to get inside the White House and the “mind of the Secretary of State as high stake crises explode.”
“When it was suggested my friend Hillary and I write a political thriller together, I could not say yes fast enough,” the author said.
“Before we started, we talked about her time as Secretary of State. What was her worst nightmare? State of Terror is the answer.”
