This is the dream job for any thrill seeker.
Australia has just posted more than 150 jobs for people willing to work at their Antarctic research stations.
The people who get selected for this job will get the post of “expeditioner.”
All housing and lodging will be on the employers and a dedicated team of chefs will be serving delicious meals, cooked fresh.
Along with a chance to explore yourself, you will be able to explore the greatest uninhabited place on the planet.
On top of that all, you’ll get a bonus of $61,000, other than your base wage for working in the harsh Antarctic weather.
The wages of a medical officer will be around $200,000 of basic salary and a $61,000 allowance per year.
If you are an Information Technology expert, you can make a basic salary of $74,500 and the same bonus of $61,000 annually.
The jobs offered by the Australian Antarctic Division span over a number of disciplines and vary in length from a four-month summer internship to a 15 months gig, over the complete Antarctic winter.
The jobs include positions of chefs, logistical supply officers, IT officers, medical practitioners, mechanics, welders, plumbers, and carpenters.
If you have any of those skills and want to have a good time with the penguins, you are welcome at the job.
During the summer, when the area can be accessed easily, there are around 100 people at every one of the four Antarctic bases.
During the long dark winter, the staff is cut down to the minimum possible of 14-20 people who are required to remain there throughout the winter, isolated from the rest of the world.
In order to be safe, the staff must take care of themselves and others as the small community survives the winter together as a unit.
The level of isolation here is the most extreme that’s possible. Not everyone can endure such isolation and loneliness.
In order to make sure the research team can survive the winter, the Australian Antarctic Division rigorously tests the psychological and physical abilities of the team in the hardest way possible.
If you think you can make your own fun in the wilderness and can learn new skills at this job, you can apply regardless of your gender.
