23 years old David Briffaut went on a holiday to Jávea on the Costa Blanca in Spain with Penny Bristow, his girlfriend and another couple of their age.
They went to have some good time but ended up falling in a tragedy they are probably never getting out of.
While sliding down from a water slide, David hurt himself severely and it looks like the injury has affected his spinal cord and made him disabled for life.
He was quickly rushed to the hospital after the injury and since then he has been in there. Doctors have already performed some surgeries on him but his condition is still not stable.
They are going to perform a few more surgeries to make his condition stable and then they will send him away to his home in the UK in an air ambulance.
David’s mother said “We are living a nightmare every parent wishes to escape. This is the most horrifying time of our lives.
My son was an active young man and we have no idea how he will be able to adjust to this massive change in his life. The worst part is this is irreversible. The doctors say no matter what we do he cannot go back to be normal.”
She added “We have to make arrangements for him to be able to access our home now. He cannot live alone anymore. And we have to modify our house as per disabled person’s needs.
The doors would have to be changed, the toilets, the bed, and there are just so many things we would have to change before he gets back home.”
“My biggest concern right now is that he does not give up and goes into depression. He has always been a fun-loving boy and we would want him to remain the same.”
