Joining the military is a huge commitment.
It means that people have voluntarily signed up to serve the country in any way they can.
It means that these soldiers will go anywhere the country needs them to be.
But, what happens when they are done?
Rather than enjoying their time with their families and friends, so many homeless veterans exist all around the nation.
Not only that, many veterans struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from deployment, and do not get enough support.
And we all know that the veterans don’t deserve this kind of treatment.
So, one organization in Kansas city came up with an amazing way to help out the veterans.
VCP, or Veterans Community Project, is a Missouri organization founded by three veterans who wanted to help out fellow veterans.

In order to reduce the difficulty of readjusting to the community after serving in the military, the founders of this organization set out to construct fifty tiny houses for the veterans.
These small homes are each about 240 square feet, and is being built by volunteers.
According to their website, VCP states, ‘The goal would be to get veterans straight off the streets and hand them the keys to their full furnished tiny house (stocked with food), without the veteran having to go through the hassles of waiting for gas, electric, deposits, inspections, and voucher processes.
We would then stabilize them to educate and support them on reintegrating into society all while treating and addressing their housing barriers as we move them into permanent housing.
”As such, VCP offers peer counseling and job training to the veterans in addition to these tiny houses.

VCP also wrote that “in contrast to traditional homeless services, these tiny homes will provide the Veteran privacy, a sense of ownership, and the ability to reintegrate at a comfortable pace”.
Another good news is that VCP is not the only organization that’s trying to support the veterans. In fact, similar projects are going on in other states as well!
