Social media users were shocked when a video of a homeless man’s quick makeover transformed him from a scruffy and hairy individual to a strikingly handsome individual.
MMA fighter Prophet Muscle posted the video which quickly went viral. The fighter seems to have observed a barber who was giving free haircuts to the homeless somewhere in the US. The video sees the homeless man sitting in the chair, his hair a mess, and all overgrown. Then the moment comes when the barber is done and reveals the handsome 30-year-old that was hiding under that mess.
“From being Homeless to a Model in 1 Minute,” the caption read.
The video starts with the unidentified man outside sitting underneath some awning. A barber then starts working on the man’s messy mane and facial hair as another man feeds him.
It’s clear the man has been homeless for some length of time because not only are his hair and beard long, but they’re also unkempt. Combined with a tired and beaten-down look about his eyes, it’s obvious that he’s been through a lot in life.
The barber first cuts the man’s hair and trims it close, switching to an electric shaver to perfect the edges.
Then he turns the shaver onto the man’s beard and mustache, entirely shaving them off.
The clip then jumps to the “after” shot that shows the man nearly at the end of the physical transformation. His formerly tangled hair has been cut and styled, his face is clean-shaven, and he’s even smiling slightly.
“Wow, there’s a face in there,” a woman can be heard saying in the background.
This obviously pleases the man who starts grinning more widely now. He’s probably also realizing that he looked much different compared to when he first became homeless.
Another dude who is helping the barber even comments that he’s a “good looking dude” and advises him to get off drugs as well as get off the street.
“Show up for your life, bro. It’s not too late. How old are you?” the man off-camera asks.
The homeless man replies that he’s only 30 years old. The other guy encourages him by saying that he was 34 before he finally got his own life together.
“I had nothing. I had warrants for my arrest, bad credit. I was 130 lbs., hooked on crack. And these last 15 years, I got married, got those two little kids right there,” he says.
The homeless man admits that he’s a meth addict so the other guy promises that once he’s ready, he’ll bring him over to meetings to help get him over his addiction.
