46-year-old Mike had been homeless for years when he met 24-year-old Phillip Vu in New Haven, CT after he offered to wash his car windows.

Philip then invited Mike to his vehicle for a quick chat and the two immediately became good friends.

Phillip, a vlogger, then started recording their conversations and shared them with his friends on social media.

“We both experienced loss and we just bonded on that,” Phillip said. “I was talking about family, where we’re from and how we both ended up in that situation.”

People quickly loved Mike’s genuine personality and asked the 24-year-old vlogger if they could donate some money to help Mike put a roof over his head.

In just two days, the online fundraiser hit the initial target of $1,000. Philip then presented Mike with a red envelope containing the cash.

Mike couldn’t contain his emotions as he broke down in tears. “I would never thought this would happen, I ask God for just one thing, life, and he poured you into me,” he told Phillip.

The vlogger then showed Mike the GoFundMe he set up for him, which already had $14,000 on it.

“When I set off on this journey eight months ago when I left home to live out my car and make videos, years in the future my dream was to give a person who deserves it a lump sum of money and change their life.

“I never could’ve imagined only eight months later I would have achieved that.”

He continued: “We can fix homeless in the US because a life was changed with just $17,000 – we can make a difference in these peoples lives.”

Philip has enlisted financial advisors to help his friend use the cash responsibly. He also bought him groceries, clothes, and a phone so they can keep in touch.

Mike is currently getting his birth certificate and social security number, and has applied for a low-income housing.
