The Hong Kong authorities had to close all the government offices because of the clash of violence between the riot police and crowd over the new extradition bill.
The police started using water cannons, pepper spray, and batons to stop the protestors from reaching the city’s parliament.
The authorities decided to shut down the government building till the end of this week which because of the protestors. The violence which happened on Wednesday is something that the city has seen after the Chinese rule in 1997.
More than 72 people were hospitalized after the riots around 10 pm. The clash started after 3 pm when the protestors were protesting about the controversial bill which will allow the criminal suspects in Hong Kong to be sent for trial in China.
When the protestors were trying to get past the government headquarters, the police started using riot shields for protection against them.
There were more than a thousand people outside the government offices, and the crowd was just getting bigger. That’s when there was an announcement of a delay in the second reading of the bill.
More than a million people were marching and protesting on the streets expressing their objection against the law.
The protestors outnumbered the riot police and started removing the barricades and all. The protestors were also blocking the road by stopping vehicles purposely.
The riot was getting really bad, and that’s when Stephen Lo Wai-Chung, the commissioner asked the protestors to stop the violence.
Many people got injured during the riot, and also there were police officers who got hurt. After a point of time, police had to use all the riot shield weapons to stop the protestors from being aggressive.
The organizers of this march said that more than a million people were ready to raise their voice against the proposed law.
