Hong Kong protesters garnered praise from every nook and corner of the globe after they amazingly made way for an ambulance to pass through them in a matter of few seconds.
In a video clip which went viral soon after it emerged online, the sea of demonstrators can be seen parting in two to allow the emergency vehicle to pass through it.
The footage was captured along the Harcourt Road near the Central Government Complex.
What surprised the people across the globe was the orderly manner in which the protesters rearranged themselves to create a way for the ambulance.
The unbelievable moment was compared with Moses’ parting of the Red Sea by social media users.
‘Moses would have been happy with a parting like that,’ a Twitter user praised the incident.
‘A noble act by the entire mob … admirable,’ another remarked.
One person said it was ‘the most beautiful scene in Hong Kong.’
A woman who was present at the moment recalled how she heard screams of people, asking fellow protesters to make room for the vehicle at about 6 pm.
‘I heard that someone had fallen ill ahead of us. The ambulance arrived and there was a protester separating the crowd and asking people to move to the side of the road,’ Cathy, who works in marketing, told MailOnline.
‘There was no chaos at all. Everyone was so polite and organized,’ the 28-year-old added. ‘I was so touched. We are definitely not rioters!’
Posting the video of the incident on his Facebook, actor Anthony Wong wrote: ‘Moses separating the Red Sea. The Lord is my strength.
‘The whole world now knows Hong Kong.’
Sum, a 28-year-old translator who was also in the crowd, said: ‘I’m impressed to see two million people protesting in such an organized and peaceful manner.
‘People who didn’t know each other were helping one another. I am proud to be a Hong Konger.’
The peaceful demonstrators were also praised by Lyndon Rees, who is the founder of Citybus, one of the three main bus operators in the city.
In a Facebook post, Rees thanked the protesters for making way for city buses, writing: ‘Let’s be proud of Hong Kong’s young patriots for their responsible behavior tonight.
‘In many cities in such circumstances, these buses would already have been targets for incineration.’
Raymond Chan, a Hong Kong parliamentarian, also posted a clip of another similar incident which took place at Causeway Bay earlier on Sunday.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: ‘#HongKongers are the most orderly protesters in the world. They cleared out a (passage) in mere seconds for an ambulance in Causeway Bay.’
Hong Kong’s demonstrators also won praise after countless people returned to a protest site to pick up all the trash that was left there.
More than two million inhabitants of the autonomous territory took to streets to protest against an extradition bill which would significantly increase Beijing’s control over Hong Kong.
The protesters have been calling for Chief Executive Carrie Lam to resign following the death of a demonstrator who died after falling from a roof of a mall while trying to unveil a protest banner.
