According to a Downing Street spokesperson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom had been admitted to the hospital the previous night for tests as a precautionary step.
This is because the PM continues to show persistent symptoms of the coronavirus disease, which could be a high temperature in his case.
The fifty-five-year-old PM was taken to an undisclosed NHS hospital in central London. Aides confirmed Boris Johnson was spending that night in the hospital and would be kept under observation as long as necessary.
Boris Johnson had continued to show coronavirus symptoms even after 7 days when he was tested positive.
This move came after his aides grew increasingly worried about the Prime Minister’s health. The government aides noted that Johnson was spluttering and coughing on the video conference calls from the past few days.
Coronavirus patients are generally able to shake off coronavirus symptoms within a week.
Doctors noted that those patients who have persistent high temperatures are at risk of getting pneumonia.
The spokesperson said that the PM was admitted to the hospital for tests on his doctor’s advice. They added that is was only a precautionary step because Boris Johnson had been showing the symptom even after 10 days of testing positive for COVID-19.
They further added that the PM thanked all the NHS staff for their hard work and urged the public to keep following the advice of the Government regarding staying at their homes, protect the NHS, as well as save lives.
The cabinet meeting regarding the COVID-19 war would be chaired by Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary.
If the PM is not able to continue due to any reason, Mr. Raab would take over as the caretaker PM. In case he became unwell too, then the authority to delegate responsibility would be the PM’s.
