A 21-year-old American, who has been teaching English in Wuhan for the past three months, has revealed how they are living in Wuhan.
Megan Monroe, from California, is living in the quarantine zone in Wuhan for the last 46 days.
Megan, who is non-binary, has been documenting their day-to-day life under quarantine with TikTok videos and they are heartbreaking.
Megan revealed they started documenting their day-to-day life under quarantine for their family who is extremely worried about them.
Megan is locked inside their house for the past 46 days and can only get food and medicine via delivery.
They can’t go out without a mask and protective suit if they need anything.
In one of the videos, Megan told the front door to their apartment is padlocked shut and they can’t go out to get groceries.
They said in the video: “And the little gate on the other side of the apartment was wired shut. So I’m stuck inside. I can still order delivery food, so hopefully that works out.”
They said the communities are placing food orders at the same time as everyone in the city is getting their food delivered.
Megan also helps the delivery person to distribute groceries to neighbors.
Megan said they are just trying to make light of the bad situations that are happening in Wuhan through their TikTok videos.
When Megan was asked why they didn’t leave, they said they decided to stay in Wuhan as they don’t want to get on a plane with a hundred people who might have the virus.
Megan hopes it will be over soon and everything will get back to normal.
They said: “I think this is just where I’m supposed to be right now. I know I will be in Wuhan for a couple [of] years at least! It’s a lovely city; I just need to brush up on my Chinese.”
