The Computer giant HP is calling back about 80,000 batteries they had sold because they now fear that these batteries have a risk of heating up too much and catching fire.
This is a well-known problem that a battery can heat up excessively and when it happens there are chances that it can catch fire easily.
With the same fear now, HP is calling back for the devices they have already sold. This is the second announcement. In the first announcement the company called back about 50,000 devices and now they are calling for 80,000 more.
At first, the company said that the users can be affected if they own ZBook, x360, HP ProBook, Pavilion, HP 11 model, or ENVY. But it looks like they have added more model names to the list. The list now has 10 more names that have the batteries which have the risk to catch fire.
In a statement on the website, HP urged to its customers to apply for a replacement battery for their products as soon as they can. They also asked the customers to update the software that will use the battery in the safe mode to keep them getting fire.
The announcement of the first recall was made back in January when the company had asked about 50,000 consumers to act on the announcement but because of the Government shutdown, nothing could happen in the US.
US Consumer Product Safety Commission only announced the same now and has been urging the customers to take action faster on the same.
The withdrawal request of the products was made after 8 reports of these batteries overheating and catching up fire came out. Some of the customers even suffered from first degree burns because of the same.
These laptops were sold in a time period of 3 years starting from 2015 to 2018. Batteries with the reports were sold separately as well.
So if you are an HP customer and you have already made a check on your device last year, we would still ask you to check it again as more names of the devices has been added in the unsafe list and we as well as the company, none would like you to get any harm.
