China is expected to lift the lockdown and allow movement in many parts of Hubei province on March 25th; 2020.
People who have cleared the screening will be allowed to leave the province from Tuesday.
Wuhan, the city that was hit the hardest will remain in the lockdown until April 8; 2020.
China restricted people from entering or leaving the city of Wuhan and the nearby provinces on January 23 due to the exponential spread of coronavirus throughout China as well as other parts of the country amidst the Lunar New Year holiday, a time during which Chinese people travel a lot.
For more than a week, Hubei had no new cases of Covid infections. And, this decision to lift the restriction shows that the authorities have faith that they have successfully managed to curb the surge of this infection through drastic measures across China.
After restricting people from leaving or entering Wuhan, authorities efficiently implemented unprecedented measures throughout Hubei and its millions of residents along with other regions of a country holding a population of 14 billion.
As of now, we are not certain whether other cities, as well as provinces, will allow people who are leaving Hubei to enter. The rules of quarantine are likely to stay the same for people who are coming from other regions.
Moreover, officials are now focusing on the threat of the Coronavirus coming back from a foreign land, as new cases are being reported among the travellers coming from overseas.
Shanghai, Beijing, and other big cities have implemented a mandatory 14-days quarantines for all people travelling from other countries.
And in order to completely eliminate the risk of spreading the virus, Beijing has now mandated the travellers to test for Covid-19 along with 14 days quarantine.
