Gabriela Leonardi, who is the owner of three French poodles, posted a TikTok video, which became instantly popular in the Spanish media.
In the video, two condors flew from the opposite direction and landed on the balcony railing of her penthouse after spotting the dogs. The three dogs were seen barking excitedly as the massive birds were sizing the little up from the outside.
Later one of the prey birds was seen moving along the railing in an attempt to get closer to the dogs. Thankfully, there was a strong glass separating the predator and protecting the dogs. The condor which was close to the window began to peck on it so that it could reach one of the pups.
However, the owner, Ms. Leonardi, said that the birds appeared to be harmless and might just wanted to play with the pets. She explained that the condors are seen in the region quite often.
The video of them on the window with dogs inside is a month older. However, after the lockdown, they have started to visit the area more frequently.
She explained that two years ago, one of the larger birds was first seen outside her house. However, after a while, he was joined by a female bird of the same species.
Soon they were joined by a third bird as well. Gabriel admitted that the lockdown has made them turn up more often. She is also feeding them with scraps of barbecue.
Condors in the city are reported to have left hungry as there are no humans on the local streets to feed them. In the jungle, these creatures eat carrion. Moreover, Andean condors also hunt small animals such as rabbits, birds, rodents, etc.
Many news reports have highlighted that amidst the lockdown, the birds of prey are struggling to eat. In many parts of the world, wildlife has been seen venturing out into the streets with humans stuck inside due to the lockdown.
