While he and his friend were free-diving the Vava’u passage in Tonga, several whales come closer to Rosner. It was a friendly, sensitive, and curious approach. One of them even lifted out of the water Rosner with its tail. It was an amazing experience.

The whales were friendly and gentle but Rosner felt their power.
“Apparently all her scars are from defending her calves from orcas. I was half the size of one of [her] flippers.”

The whales stayed around the humans for 6 hours dancing and swimming. It seemed the humans and the whales were curious about each other.
