A husband has been arrested after battering his wife to death and burying her body in the backyard in order to get rid of her and be able to hook up with her sister.
“I love you,” were the last words Fahima Yusuf allegedly told her husband, 37-year-old Ahmed Dawood Seedat, before he battered her to death and buried her while their kids were sleeping.
As the court heard, the Australian accountant, who was sentenced to 23 years in prison, committed the gruesome acts in order to get rid of his wife and be with her sister instead.
According to Justice Bruno Fiannaca, Ahmed had searched a series of disturbing terms online before committing the murder. Amongst the chilling terms were ‘cremating a body,’ ‘how to bury a person alive,’ and ‘best place to knock someone out.’
Defending the 37-year-old, lawyer Bernard Standish claimed the husband retaliated by attacking his wife because she was forcing him to meet her ‘sexual demands.’
Not accepting any of it, Justice Fiannaca said Ahmed not only murdered his own wife but also deprived his children of their mother and committed fraud.
The mother-of-two was discovered after being reported missing for over four days. Ahmed initially lied to his friends and family members saying Fahima went to the UK in order to undergo eye surgery.
“You envisaged a future with your sister-in-law … you had become emotionally dependent on her,” Fiannaca said.
Nevertheless, the judge has taken Ahmed’s remorse into account before sentencing him to 23 years in prison. In addition, the wife killer is also facing fraud charges for allegedly stealing $5.7 million.
