A 36-year-old woman, who was cheated on by her husband on their wedding day and then became a victim of domestic violence, has now rekindled love with her ex-husband.
After Gemma Threlfall John and her 33-year-old husband Nigel Johns split in 2012, the-mother-of five met Andy at a house party.
She said: “He was charming and kind and, as we grew closer, I loved how good he was with the kids too.”
“We were friends at first but I soon fell for him and within a few weeks he’d moved in.”
After welcoming their first child in 2013, Andy proposed to Gemma and Gemma got pregnant again when their son was three-months-old.
During her second pregnancy, Gemma started noticing Andy’s changed behavior.
He stopped helping her out around the house, would snap at her and the kids, and spent hours playing on his Xbox.
When Gemma had had enough, she asked Andy to leave her house.
However, after giving birth to their daughter in 2014, they got back together and decided to marry.
She said: “I was keen for us to be a proper family, we both wanted to marry. When New Year came round we decided 2015 would be our year and we started planning properly.”
They tied the knot at the Darlington register office in August 2015 and then had a reception at the local leisure centre with 50 guests.
Her kids were pageboys and bridesmaids at their wedding and Gemma was very happy and did everything to make her big day the most memorable day of their life.
However, when after the reception, the couple got back to their hotel room and Andy passed out on the bed, Gemma thought to update her relationship status on Facebook to “married”.
When she grabbed Andy’s phone. She found filthy videos, pictures, and messages Andy sent to a woman. One of the messages had been sent by the woman on their wedding day.
She said: “I was heartbroken and devastated, I could barely bring myself to read them but I saw they had been going on for at least a month.”
When she confronted Andy, he admitted his mistake and apologized. Gemma forgave him and decided to give him a second chance.
She said: “He said he’d been stupid but wanted to make sure he was ready to settle down, and it didn’t mean anything. He said the messages had only been going on for a few months.”
However, six months after getting married, Andy hit her after an argument and Andy was jailed for four months in February 2016.
Still, she didn’t leave him because he kept saying sorry and he’d never been violent before.
In November 2017, Gemma found out Andy had cheated on her again and finally she decided to leave him.
After leaving Andy, she rekindled love with her first husband Nigel and they are now back together.
Gemma feels getting with Andy was her biggest mistake and she hopes she never sees him again.
Gemma said: “Sometimes I wish Nigel and I’d never split, but I’m so happy we’re back together. He was there for me through everything. Now we’re happier than ever.”
