A husband has defied doctors’ orders in order to give one final hug to his dying nurse wife who had been battling COVID-19 after serving on the frontlines of the war against the pandemic.
36-year-old Areema Nasreen was a hero nurse from West Midlands, England, who worked with coronavirus patients at ICU at Walsall Manor Hospital.
Sadly, the mother-of-three has contracted the killer bug and became one of the youngest healthcare workers in the country to suffer fatal consequences.
“Don’t worry about the kids,” the brave woman’s husband allegedly whispered into her ear just moments before she passed away.
According to the reports, the doctors told the nurse’s family to avoid physical contact due to the risks of spreading the virus but her loving husband couldn’t resist giving her one final hug before letting her pass onto the other side.
“We’re distraught. We are all just broken – we’ve just got no words. Areema was on the ventilator and just before she died, her husband said to her ‘don’t worry about the kids,’” 31-year-old Ash, the victim’s sister, said in an interview with The Sun.
“She started to cry. The doctors said please don’t hug her, because of the virus, but he said he had to. Then she passed away. We are all absolutely devastated.”
Following the mother’s premature death, the family has pleaded with the people to respect lockdown rules in order to put an end to the pandemic faster.
