The houses near the Lake Erie in Hamburg, New York turns into igloos after strong winds blew the water off the lake and turned it into ice.
This happened over the weekend when 47mph gust winds froze the neighborhood houses of Lake Erie.
The covering of ice outside the houses was said to be 1 to 3 inches thick and people had a hard time getting out, and due to frosting, people experienced complete darkness inside the houses.
Trees on the Hoover Beach, in front of Lake Erie, were also completely covered in ice and snow that was thickly muddied.
A local said that they had to come out from a secondary door in their house and then chisel the ice outside to enter back in.
Someone also said that this is the sixth storm within a few months.
Ice started to collect on Thursday and overnight into Friday. On Friday, a blizzard hit Hamburg and bought heavy snow along.
The waves pounded the shoreline from Lake Erie and due to strong winds, the water further blew onto the houses and froze due to freezing temperatures that dipped to 21 Fahrenheit.
The waves from Lake Erie are said to be 10-feet high.
Due to this, people residing at the Hoover Beach suffered property damage, saw trees collapse due to the weight of the ice and also suffered destroyed power lines.
The Emergency Services Manager of Hamburg informed that before they can send a team to assess all the damage that has happened, the ice has to become soft.
And the locals are worried about their homes because the lake is moving closer due to erosion over the past few big stores.
The town supervisor of Hamburg announced how they will apply for new Federal Emergency Management Agency funds in 2020 for protective measures that have to be taken for the neighborhood.
