Ilhan Omar lashed out at Trump and his administration as she suggested they were responsible for the death of her father and thousands of other people.
As the Representative of Minnesota’s 5th congressional district insisted, over 300,000 people in America lost their lives because of alleged “criminal neglect” by Trump’s administration.
The 38-year-old Democrat blasted the president and the current administration in an interview with MSNBC months after the death of her father. Nur Omar Mohamed passed away back in June at the age of 67.
“I lost my father on June 16. I remember my dad was in Kenya, he came back into the US when Covid hit because he thought he was going to be safer here,” Omar said.
“My father and over 300,000 people have lost their lives to Covid because of dangerous criminal neglect by Trump and his administration.”
As she added, people “responsible for these reckless deaths” should be investigated and prosecuted because “it is not enough for us just to issue subpoenas.”
“My father should be here today, so many of our family members should be here today and they’re not here with us because we had leaders who didn’t care about their lives,” the Democratic congresswoman added.
“Our president today has not shown an ounce of compassion to the people who have passed away. He still has not acknowledged the devastating loss so many of us are feeling. My father survived so many things and for him to lose his life to Covid is devastating.”
