On March 5th (local time), Chinese media Asia Wire reported a case of over 3,000 men flocking over to a hotel due to a 19-year-old girl’s offer of “Free Sex” on social media.
This ridiculous frenzy was caused by a photo in a bikini of Qianjin Yeye, a 19-year-old Chinese blogger on Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
Along with the seductive photo she posted: “somebody come get me, sex for free.”
The 19-year-old then revealed she was staying in the local Hilton Hotel in room 6316, which immediately went viral with 3,000 men gathering in the hotel lobby.
The hotel’s phone system was paralyzed after receiving so many calls, and people flocked to pound on the door of her room.
Scared of such viral response, the blogger posted again on her page that she was “joking” and that people should “stop coming to the hotel.”
She had to ask the hotel staff to come and escort her out of the hotel in a taxi in private.
She was later arrested by the police for promoting prostitution and was sentenced 15 days of imprisonment with a fine of 500 yuan (79 USD).
This incident became known in China as the Room 6316 incident.
