Donald Trump says that he will start targeting the illegal migrants in the country without any details about the planned actions.
Trump told the reporters that there are people who come in the country illegally, and now they have to leave.
Though the immigration experts say that it is pretty impossible to ask millions of people to leave suddenly, but Trump still has kept the country on high alert.
Trump is making this the main topic before his campaign for the 2020 election, and till now, there is no arrest reported like it was seen during President Barack Obama’s first term.
Trump is doing this for two reasons; first, he is trying to stop more immigrants from coming in, and second, he is trying to send away the ones who have been released in the country.
During March 2019, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that the arrests of immigrants in the country dropped in the first half of 2019 fiscal year, which was last October.
The house speaker Nancy Pelosi said that it is an act of producing fear in the communities.
Mayor Julian Castro, who is the only Latino in the presidential race, accused the president of racist lies and injecting fear amongst the immigrants.
Bitta Mostofi who is the New York City’s commissioner of immigrant affairs said that by taking this step, Trump is just injecting fear amongst the immigrants and stopping the ability to advance the growth of our city’s interest.
ICE said that it will conduct the required operations and also if there is an increase in the ICE arrest, then it will require more detention space for the people who have been arrested.
Till now the ICE has around 53,141 people in the detention center and right now the ICE family’s detention centers are running low of capacity. The operation will be continued as till now, ICE has not said anything about Trump’s tweet.
