One of the interesting precepts of esoteric wisdom states that everything is in the NOW.
Which might seem strange considering that all of us are aware of the past and can pretty much postulate what will happen in the future.
But if you look at it closely, all we really do have is the present. The future has not yet happened, so what we expect may happen are just assumptions that we make based on past events. And the past is already finished. In essence, those two states, past, and future refer to things that do not exist. Only the present exists and is changing right before our very eyes.
That’s why when we witness something wonderful, it only exists in our memory. It’s something that we can look back on with fondness, but that moment is forever gone except in our heads. Perhaps that is why people are so obsessed with taking pictures nowadays, picturing everything from buying an item in a shop or taking a photo of one’s food before eating it.
Perhaps all of us, on an instinctive level, realize that there are just some moments that are worth keeping for posterity, maybe as we desperately try to cling to a better past as we remain anxious about an uncertain future ahead of us.point 194 | Watch enough news and you can’t help but feel a little stressed out about what’s happening right now.point 290 |
That’s why snapshots of happy moments are probably little gems that you would want to treasure for those times when it feels like the day is coming apart.point 133 | 1
But even with modern digital technology that allows us to snap hundreds, if not thousands, of photos and keep them in a device no bigger than the palm of our hand, we don’t always have our cameras with us or just can’t bring them to point fast enough to capture special moments that will live on only as digital bits of ones and zeroes.
However, sometimes there are those instances when someone manages to get that shot of a lifetime. Moments that are almost impossible to recreate but are now able to share with others by the virtue of being at the right place and the right now.
Take a look at these moments and share in the contentment that these images evoke.
Nice view
Touch ’em up
An octopus about to attack
Wings against the sunlight
When you realize it’s about to hit
Symmetrical wave
Dandelion and the sun
The wasp and the fly
Peek-a-boo landing
The bubble surprised this dog
Everything is normal up to the second before something happens
A winged dog?
“I see you.”
When it looks like the Invisible Man is playing
A mackerel opening its jaws
The moment a wave hits a rock
The sun looks like a glowing pea on the bird’s tongue
Perfect fit
A bear that looks like it has feathered ears
