With the release of movies like “Anaconda” and “Snakes On A Plane”, the unrealistic and nonsensical snake phobia has spread widely across the world.
With over a billion people fearing snakes, it seems unlikely that half of them have ever had any experiences with them. Their fear may be rational, but it is not based entirely on experience.
However, to have the worst experiences with these deadly creatures and still be strong and courageous is one thing that only the best of us can achieve. That’s exactly what a man in Indonesia was able to do.
Meet Robert Nababan, an Indonesian native who found himself in some rather cold waters. Nababan was having a regular day-long stroll along the road in Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province, when he stumbled upon a python that was “only” 23 feet long. The massive hunk of spaghetti was in the way of a couple of pedestrians, blocking out their path.
37-year-old Robert Nababan tried to rush the snake, which ended up with the monster noodle getting upset and angry. After all, he was harming no one, right? So what did Nababan do? He did what any other sane creature would never do. The brave man decided to wrestle the gigantic thing down. And it wasn’t easy!
The fight proved to be quite gruesome and bloody, and for the most part injurious. Rober still refused to give up, even after he was covered with tons of wounds and stitches. Clearly, he had lost his mind. But oh well, better to be insane than be a coward!
According to numerous reports, the brave young man was walking along the road minding his own business when he came across two pedestrians who couldn’t use the road anymore because there was a 23-foot-long python blocking it. So he just casually decided to wrestle it to death.
Only after a few minutes was he completely indulged in the fight. Surely, this was nothing like Wrestle Mania. The python used it’s only defense; its gigantic teeth. It sunk them deep into Nababan’s arms and continued to struggle out of his grip.
Finally, the animal was killed by the hands of a man who had too much courage in his heart. Later, he was sent to a hospital for intensive care. The wounds were still bleeding, open and prone to infection. He suffered numerous wounds and got a hundred stitches. The most notable of which was the canyon-wide cut on his arm from the snake’s bite.
His behavior comes as no shock though. He works for security at a local palm oil plant in the region. He is now subject to numerous surgeries and treatments, and might even lose his life. But he has absolutely no regrets. The python’s carcass was left hanging from a clothing line, for all to see and wonder at.
