An infant has tragically passed away from sepsis shortly after doctors have misdiagnosed him and turned his family away as they sought help in the hospital two times.
The incident occurred in Kent, UK, where 29-year-old Laura Cooke and her 29-year-old husband Vlado Gavrilescu have lost their greatest love just days before Christmas.
As the couple revealed, their baby boy Luchii was just 48 days when he passed away from sepsis.
According to the couple, they have taken their “bundle of joy” to the hospital two times after he started experiencing breathing problems.
On both occasions, however, the hospital sent the family home claiming that the newborn had a common cold according to the heartbroken mum.
After the baby was back home, his condition degraded even further until his urine changed color and he lost consciousness.
“I got to my mum’s and burst out crying. I told her he doesn’t look right and she agreed and said he shouldn’t be breathing like this. He was very pale and was lethargic and floppy,” Laura recalled.
As the mother added, her boy was rushed to the hospital where a pediatrician told the parents they would start “treatment for sepsis.”
“I started crying and froze and my heart was racing. I sort of went into a panic and didn’t know what to do or say. My mum came straight over and looked at him and was crying. He just looked lifeless,” Laura continued.
According to the mother, the pediatrician also told her that the baby should have been brought in sooner despite the fact that other medical professionals sent the family home on two occasions.
While the boy’s condition appeared to have stabilized temporarily, little Luchii suffered a cardiac arrest just when the parents finally thought their nightmare was over.
“A doctor then walked in and the first thing he said was ‘I’m sorry’ and me and dad fell to the floor screaming and crying. We just couldn’t believe it,” Laura expressed.
“It was just heartbreaking telling my kids their baby brother who they were so excited to have and spent five weeks with was no longer here. I had to tell them he had gone to heaven. They were asking why and I didn’t know how to explain it to them.”
