In a desperate attempt to fight against the fast-spreading Coronavirus, the Italian Prime Minister has extended the area of the lockdown which was earlier confined only to the north to the whole of the country.
Citizens on panic
However, as the news of the lockdown reached the general public, there was a spree of panic across all the places in Italy.
In the capital Rome, people were seen to be standing in long queues outside the shops so as to stock up the various essential commodities.
Even as people were seen shuttling through the markets, they covered themselves with protective masks to keep the Covid-19 infection at bay.
Ban on public events
Following the move made by the Prime Minister, all events of public gathering stand banned at the moment.
The cinemas, the gym and the pubs have all been closed down.
Not just that, even the weddings and the funeral have all been canceled. Sporting events, such as the Series A games have also been canceled.
Vital medicines looted
Owing to the panic buying among the shoppers and the tendency of hoarding by certain people, there was a scarcity of some of the essential commodities.
In fact, reports have also come in which some of the vital medicines have also been looted from the medical stores amidst the chaos that has taken the entire nation in its grip.
Surge in patients
There may soon be a collapse in the medical facilities of the country as well as thousands of people are coming to the hospital to seek medical attention.
Thus, doctors have to make a very crucial decision of who can get a bed and who cannot.
The chances of survival and the age of the patient are some of the parameters that are being taken into account.
