J K Rowling who is the author of Harry Potter faces criticism after her support for the transphobic researcher.
The author supported the woman on social media who have been fired for her comments conveying that transgender women shouldn’t be recognized legally.
Rowling supported Maya Forstater, who worked as a tax expert who lost her job the moment she posted tweets that did not support the UK government’s plan to reform the Gender Recognition Act that allows people to convert their legal gender.
Forstater’s former employer denied renewing her employment contract.
The reason being, Forstater believes that sex is a materialistic reality and that it should not be conflated with gender.
She even presented the same in the court. The employer claimed it to be a non-philosophical protected belief.
The court further ruled with the company’s decision of her non-renewal of the employment contract.
The employment judge, James Taylor defined Forstater’s views as an absolutist and the one who is not compatible with human dignity and the fundamental rights of everyone.
Even the contract of Forstater visiting new fellow members at the Center for Global Development was denied from renewal.
It was said that Maya Forstater used transphobic and offensive exclusionary words on twitter.
Forstater claimed that she was facing problems from sharing her disbelief.
Rowling went trending worldwide for supporting Maya and sparked a controversy. She went trending with the word TERF which means trans-exclusionary radical feminists.
It was mostly considered as gender critical feminists since TERF is also used as a slur.
