Jack Black may not be known for being involved in superhero films but in a recent interview, he said that he would happily let his character Nacho Libre be a part of a Marvel movie!
He joked that his 2006 character Nacho Libre would amazingly fit as part of Marvel’s Avengers.
“I don’t have any plans. I mean, I feel like Nacho Libre was kind of a superhero. He wore a costume and fought crime and was a hero of sorts. So, I guess I’ve already scratched that itch, as it were,” Black told comicbook.
“Unless they want to, ya know, add Nacho to the MCU, you never know. I think he’d be an awesome addition to the Avengers team.”
For those who can’t remember Nacho Libre, it is a comedy film written by Jerusha and Jared Hess and Mike White, and directed by Jared Hess.
Starring Jack Black, the film is based on the story of Fray Tormenta, a real-life Mexican priest who had a two-decade career as a masked luchador. He fought and competed to support the orphanage he managed.
The 2006 film grossed $99.3 million at the worldwide box office and gained mixed reviews from critics.
It has a 40 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the Critics Consensus read: “At times hilarious, but other times offensive, Director Jared Hess is unable to recapture the collective charisma of his Napoleon characters, instead relying on a one-joke concept that runs out of steam. Sure to entertain the adolescents, however.”
Jack Black stars in the upcoming American fantasy adventure comedy film Jumanji: The Next Level. It is written by Jeff Pinkner, Jake Kasdan, and Scott Rosenberg, and directed by Kasdan.
