Japan Will Start Commercial Whaling Again In Spite of Resistance

Earlier on 27 December 2018, there was news that Japan would soon start the commercial whaling again even though they never actually stopped.

The plans have finally made their way to reality as the country has left the International Whaling Commission to start whale killing.

It is a shame that the country is using the word continue as they never really stopped killing and hunting the animals; in fact, they used terms like scientific research to cover up the part.

Captain Paul Warson who spoke from the behalf of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) said that Japan is using the term resuming commercial whaling but they never really stopped doing that.

The country stopped commercial whaling in the Southern Ocean, but they continued doing the illegal whaling in the Northwestern Pacific since 1987.

The commercial whaling is strictly forbidden in the Southern Ocean whale sanctuary, and also it is illegal in every area and even after that people do it. Hopefully, the IWC will pass a resolution to South Atlantic whale sanctuary.

The whole situation sets only one conclusion, which is that Japan is openly talking about its illegal activity of continuing commercial whaling. Also, the country declared itself as the pirate whaling nation and kept doing such activities.

Paul Watson also said that it is good news as Japan has blocked all of its conservation votes for decades now and with Japan out of the option now we can have the Southern Atlantic whale sanctuary.

IWC is looking forward to having a whale conservation body as Japan is least interested in taking this step.

Japan is the only country right now, which is killing whales in the international waters as countries like Norway, Iceland and Denmark have been killing whales only in their own territorial waters since the year 1987.

Paul also said that now they will focus on stopping these countries from commercial whaling.
