Chris Pratt was criticized by Jason Momoa, the Aquaman, after he posted a photo of himself holding a single-use plastic bottle as he announced his collaboration with Amazon.
Pratt was wearing gym-gear when he posed to feature fitness products while sitting in a gym-setting. The actor was holding a plastic water bottle in his hands at the time.
“Bro I love u but w*f on the water bottle,” Jason Momoa wrote in the comment section on Tuesday. “No single use plastic. Come on.”
Replying to the Games of Thrones star, Pratt said: “Aquaman! You’re completely right. D*mmit.
“I always carry my big gallon size reusable water jug around with me too. I even had it that day!!!”
Explaining the reason behind his pose, Pratt said: “If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photoshoot cause I didn’t know what to do with my hands!”
The 40-year-old added: “I never know what to do with my hands! So uncomfortable. For real tho. Love you too buddy. My bad.
“I don’t want your home of Atlantis covered in plastic. Hear that kids? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”
Momoa has been advocating for environmental conservation, clean and clear water, and recycling for years.
The actor even shaved off his iconic beard in April in tribute to the launch of aluminum canned water. He also supported the launch while collaborating with Ball Corporation.
In a video message, he brought public attention to the fact that aluminum cans were ‘100 percent recyclable’ and should be used in place of the plastic bottles.
“I just want to do this to bring awareness because plastics are killing our planet and I think we have a solution,” said the American actor.
“I don’t want to bitch about it, [but] there’s only one thing that will really help our planet and save our planet — as long as we recycle — and that’s aluminum.
“About 75 percent of all aluminum that’s ever been used is still in use today. And it’s 100 percent recyclable. You drink the can and in about 60 days, it’ll be back. 100 percent. Infinitely recyclable.”
In September, Momoa spoke up about climate change in the United Nations while representing Hawaii and other island countries.
Sharing his speech to his Instagram account, the actor wrote: “For those who couldn’t watch it live, watch me fumble through my very honest and direct speech. No BS. Nothing sugar coated, just straight from the heart.
“We’ve been half-a— our global efforts to reverse the climate crisis and this can’t continue. We have to change now.”
He concluded: “For the future of our planet, and Small Island Developing States, the wave of change is coming. Aloha J.”
Replaced!
