Jennifer Aniston, 52, finally addressed the speculation of a possible romance between herself and Friends co-star David Schwimmer.
Earlier this year, social media was set on fire when rumors began circulating that the Aniston and Schwimmer began seeing each other after the much-anticipated Friends reunion.
During the televised reunion in HBO, the two –who play each other’s love interest on the show– sensationally admitted that they had both been ‘crushing hard on each other’ during the early seasons of Friends.
“It was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship,” Schwimmer told James Corden during the reunion. “And we never crossed that boundary, we respected that.”
Months later after the successful reunion, an insider told Closer magazine that their time filming the show had ‘stirred up feelings for both of them’, which eventually led to times spent together at Aniston’s home.
However, Schwimmer’s representatives quickly shut down the dating speculations and confirmed that the actor and Aniston were just good friends.
Now, Aniston has become the first person to directly speak out about the rumor herself.
According to Unilad, it seems that the 52-year-old actress was pretty blindsided by the sudden claims of a romance.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said that she found rumor ‘bizarre’, but added that she understood why fans might be hoping for a fairy tale ending for herself and Schwimmer.
“That was bizarre,” Aniston told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the season two premiere of Apple TV’s The Morning Show. “I could not believe that, actually. Like, really? That’s my brother.”
“But I understand it, though,” Aniston continued. “It just shows you how hopeful people are for fantasies, for dreams to come true.”
