Jennifer Lopez and her fiance Alex Rodriguez has just donated a year’s supply of food to an elementary school in Tennessee to help end child hunger.
As soon as the couple noticed a viral post on social media about how a student of Jacksboro Elementary School struggled with hunger almost every day, they couldn’t refrain from helping him.
They donated so many frozen meals from the Tiller & Hatch company to the school’s food pantry that it would be enough for a whole year.
It was October 2 when a teacher from Jacksboro Elementary School posted on Facebook a heart-breaking story of one of her students. It was about a boy who came to her asking for some food from the school as there was nothing to eat at his home.
Brooke Goins couldn’t hold back her tears on seeing how her student was talking about the lack of food in his home.
“Today I cried at work. Not because I hate my job, or that it is just too hard (it really is). Today I cried for a child, a child who so innocently talked about food, and the lack of it,” she wrote in the viral post.
“He asked when the lady that puts food in his backpack was coming. He told me he was out of it at home and needed more … No kid should ever be hungry, ever.”

Brooke and her colleagues who were startled by the situation decided to team up and purchase some eatables for the child in need.
Looking at how the staff was eager to offer their support, the school finally decided to build a food pantry to help those students who were facing a crisis in their lives.
After the story went viral on social media, it captured the attention of Jennifer Lopez.
“We heard teachers were helping students bring home food when they didn’t have enough,” Jennifer wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
“When we saw this story, it brought tears not just to my eyes, but Alex’s as well! No child should EVER have to go to sleep hungry.”
Speaking of what inspired the couple to offer their help, Jennifer said: “My mom was a teacher and it was such a moving story to us that we wanted to help.”
Tiller & Hatch, the frozen meal company whose products were donated to the students, is owned by the couple themselves.

When we saw this story, it brought tears not just to my eyes, but Alex's as well! I don’t know if you guys know, but Alex and I are part owners in a company called Tiller & Hatch, and we decided to donate a years worth of of their yummy, healthy meals, for the students and their school’s food pantry.ADVERTISEMENT ?✨ This is why being a business owner, and having actual ownership in companies (not licensing), is so important to me and Alex, especially as Latinos.
