Climate adapt and renowned broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson has lashed out at climate change activist Greta Thunberg and called her a “weird Swede with a bad temper.
”
As the 59-year-old suggested during the introduction of the new The Grand Tour season, the young eco-warrior is a hypocrite for “sailing in a diesel-powered yacht” across the Atlantic.
In addition, Clarkson, who became a climate change convert after his boat got stuck in a dried up river in SEA, dismissed Ms. Thunberg as “a stupid idiot” who offered zero solutions on how to tackle climate change in her speech during the UN Climate Summit.
“I think she’s a weird Swede with a bad temper. Nothing will be achieved by sailing across the ocean in a diesel-powered yacht, and then lying about the diesel engine,” Clarkson said in an interview with The Independent.
As the 59-year-old added, climate change has been an on-going topic for quite a long time and he thinks it’s not appropriate that some “Swede [is] running around making all sorts of ‘we’re going to die’ noises, so we’re all aware of it.”
As Clarkson admitted, however, he witnessed the effects of climate change himself during his trip to Cambodia where his boat got stuck in a dried up river.
“But rather than having her jumping up and down and waving her arms in the air, you can actually go there and say, ‘Bloody hell, fire! Look at what this climate change has done to this place,’” he added.
“We simply said, ‘Here’s an example of it.’ What do you want me to do now? Get on my carbon fiber yacht and go and shout at Donald Trump?”
