Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family fame announced that he and his husband Justin Mikita has become fathers after they welcomed a new boy into their family.
This is the first child for both partners – the boy has been named Beckett Mercer Ferguson – Mikita.
According to Ferguson’s representative, the actor and his husband are said to be delighted to welcome a new member to their family. No words could possibly explain the joy that the two must have felt as they embraced each other and the baby as pictured above.
In an Instagram post, Mikita clearly could not restrain his happiness. He began by expressing his utmost gratitude for everyone at Summerlin Hospital that allowed them to welcome their boy. He was especially thankful for Collette, who was likely the surrogate mother for the couple.
Everyone online congratulated and expressed their good will towards the newborn child. Designer Breegan Jane was one of the first to respond to the story, writing online that she is so happy for the couple and was sure Beckett is under the most loving parents she knows of.
The beloved gay couple first announced that they were expecting a baby in an early 2020 appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Joking that they wanted the news to be private, Ferguson disclosed that the couple was expecting a boy later this year.
Ferguson is 44 years old and Mikita is 10 years his junior. The couple has been married for seven years. In an Instagram post that was uploaded a month after welcoming Beckett into the family, the two parents seemed to be having the time of their lives playing with their boy.
In the aforementioned appearance with Corden, Ferguson said it was high time that he started growing the child because of his age. He jokingly said that it was about time, and tapped his watch to suggest that he doesn’t have much time left.
Welcoming a baby into a household is one of the happiest and most momentous days in the lives of any parents, regardless of their sexual orientation. We congratulate the new parents, and wish the best upon them and their baby boy.
