The shooting began as armed forces entered an ISIS-run factory in Sainthamaruthu, a town located some 200 miles from Colombo where over 350 people lost their lives amid attacks on luxury hotels and churches.

As Sri Lanka security forces confirmed, the hideout’s main purpose was the production of suicide vests. They also suggested that the same location was used for filming notorious footage in which the fanatics swore allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi days before carrying out the attacks.

“We have found the backdrop the group used to record their video,” the police revealed.

In the factory, the soldiers secured 150 sticks of explosive gelignite, ISIS flags, ISIS uniforms, drones, 100,000 ball earrings, and suicide vests similar to those used in the recent attacks. The authorities also found huge canisters of fuel and detonating devices.

The raid followed days after ISIS claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings in Sri Lanka that cost at least 359 people of their lives.

According to the officials, the party responsible for the attacks was National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) who issued intelligence warnings several days before the blasts.

Moulvi Zahran Hashim, the leader of NTJ, appeared to be pledging allegiance to the Islamic State in several images that were circulated on social media by the fanatics.
