Star actor Joaquin Phoenix claims he will not force his son to become a vegan, despite being a strong advocate for animal rights.
The outspoken celeb revealed in a recent interview how strong of an animal rights activist he is by nature but that doesn’t mean he will go about enforcing his personal beliefs upon his child. In particular reference, the actor spoke about the concept of veganism and how his child is free to eat what he wants.
However, Phoneix did mention how he would not be perpetuating any lies for his son because that’s just not who he is. Phoenix revealed in detail how he planned to raise his son named River, giving fans an insightful approach to his much talked about parenting skills.
Phoenix welcomed his baby son in September 2020 with Rooney Mara.
While the celeb won’t be ordering his son about what he can and can’t do, the actor did boldly mention how he would be the first one to tell his son that there is simply nothing ‘happy’ in McDonald’s and that’s because he can’t live with a lie.Speaking to Sunday Times on the weekend, the star mentioned, “Well, I do certainly hope he turns out to be a vegan. In the same way, I refuse to impose my own beliefs over him. And that’s because I just don’t feel it is right,” he added.
Instead, Phoenix plans on educating his son about the rights and wrongs of reality. “I will not indoctrinate him with the concept relating to McDonald’s and its Happy Meal because there is simply nothing ‘happy’ about that particular meal.”
“I will not ask him to read all of the wonderful little storybooks that contain farm animals making cute little sounds, without informing him that your little hamburger will come from here,” he went on to exclaim.
The star plans on supporting his son throughout his decisions in life, providing him with guidance and support, every step of the way.
