Joe Biden has revealed what one of his first acts as a president will be as he vowed to ask Americans to wear face masks as soon as he is inaugurated.
As the president-elect assured in his interview with Jake Tapper of CNN, the public will not be asked to wear face coverings “forever” but only for one hundred days.
“On the first day I’m inaugurated I’m going to ask the public for 100 days to mask – just 100 days to mask. Not forever,” Biden told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “And I think we’ll see a significant reduction [in Covid-19 cases].”
Biden also opened up about the matter of the coronavirus vaccine as he claimed he’s willing to get inoculated in public to show the people that the vaccine is safe.
“People have lost faith in the ability of the vaccine to work, it matters what a president and the vice president do,” the president-elect said.
Previously, three former US presidents including Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama vowed to receive the jab in public as well.
Speaking to CNN, Biden has also confirmed that he asked Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, to be his chief medical adviser.
“I asked him to stay on the exact same role he’s had for the past several presidents, and I asked him to be a chief medical adviser for me as well, and be part of the Covid team,” the president-elect said.
