2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden has sparked a debate after he was caught on camera kissing his granddaughter on the lips while holding hands with her during Sunday’s campaign event.
The 77-year-old former Vice President was seen giving his 19-year-old granddaughter, Finnegan Biden, a peck on the lips shortly after they were spotted holding hands as they arrived at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, as a part of his campaign.
As the young woman stood by her granddad’s side, the Democratic candidate was seen hugging other attendees and kissing the hand of a child that was carried by who appears to be the toddler’s father.
The event occurred on the same eve several Democratic presidential candidates across the state rallied voters in an attempt to convince them to make their final decision on who to send on the face-off with President Trump in November.
Following the photos from the campaign event going viral, Biden’s kiss was branded innocent by some while others slammed the 77-year-old and accused him of being intrusive and aggressive.
“I can understand he’s very close with his granddaughter but kissing her on the lips is just too much,” someone wrote online.
“It’s just a peck on the lips, she previously said she was okay with it so why all the fuss? Let them be…” another one argued.
One person, however, was more worried about Biden kissing the hand of a child he didn’t even know.
“Why on Earth would he kiss the hand of a toddler he doesn’t even know??” they wrote. “It’s not only nasty but totally creepy.”
