Joe Biden said he would “develop some disease” and resign if he ever found himself in a fundamental disagreement with Kamala Harris.
As the president-elect suggested during his interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Thursday, he and the vice president-elect “are simpatico on our philosophy of government and sympatico on how we want to approach these issues that we are facing.”
The debate then took an unexpected turn as Biden presumably joked that he would resign from his position if there was a major disagreement between him and Harris.
“When we disagree so far it has been like when Barack and I did, it’s in private she’ll say ‘I think we should do a, b, c and d,’ and I’ll say ‘I like a and I don’t like b and c’ and it’s ok,” the president-elect added during the Biden-Harris interview with CNN.
“But like I told Barack, if I reach something where there is a fundamental disagreement that we have based on a moral principle, I’ll develop some disease and say I have to resign.”
After the bizarre quip, Harris appeared to shake her head a bit before accepting praise from the president-elect who went on to applaud her for her diverse background.
“And we have discussed at length our views on foreign policy, domestic policy, on intelligence. The great thing is she has a background on the Senate on intelligence, on the Intelligence committee,” Biden added.
“She has a background in the Senate on a whole range of things that are going to be pertinent to what we have to do. But so much is going to be incoming and it’s a matter of who takes what when.”
