A Man Who Sold His Honeymoon Ticket Welcomed A Baby Boy With His Fiance Who Dumped Him Before Their Wedding


John Whitbread’s story came to light when his fiancee Amy Jackson dumped him five weeks before their wedding in 2015.

He decided to auction off a spare ticket for honeymoon to the Dominican Republic and traveled with a stranger to enjoy the romantic trip.

But now he has reunited with his former fiancée and they welcomed a baby boy, Oliver. Amy also has a daughter, Daisy, 11, from her previous relationship. Watch more below!

The couple appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, where John got down on one knee and proposed Amy again, on live TV. Amy explained why she left John the first time and said, “It all happened so quickly when we first got together. Within a month we’d moved in together and got engaged quickly.

“There were lots of pressures. It all happened too soon and I got cold feet. I thought I wasn’t ready for it – I’d not lived my life enough.”

She also talked about her experience when she got to know her story of dumping John has gone viral. “It was when I was getting Daisy ready for school I saw my face on TV and the story was on the radio.

“It just reinforced I’d made a mistake, but when the media got involved, there was no going back. I was asking to meet up and he was saying no. I was getting death threats from people – it was horrible.”

John first made headlines when took to eBay to stake off the spare honeymoon ticket which was meant for Amy to the highest bidder after she told him at Christmas in 2014 she no longer wanted to get married.

He was so desperate to find a holiday companion and claimed he just wanted a nice girl to join him, no strings attached. The winner of the honeymoon ticket named Kelly Wood met John at the airport, and they flew to the Caribbean. They claim they enjoyed a platonic holiday in a honeymoon suite and returned as “good friends and nothing more.”

John and Amy were not in contact with each other for two years after their split in 2015. After failing in their respective relationships, they started chatting again. On New Year’s Eve 2017, John was so heartbroken that he told Amy not to contact him again, but apologized a few weeks later.

They both realized they were ‘meant to be together’.

Amy said: ‘When it’s meant to be it’ll always find a way. I never thought four years ago we’d be back together with a family. It wasn’t easy as he was really hurt. We had to be really honest and build it up from scratch.”

John decided to propose Amy again and planned it with ITV. He was inspired by the song Just You and I by Tom Walker to get engaged at their favorite restaurant and convinced the resultant to send out invites saying bosses were inviting faithful customers to breakfast to celebrate 10 years in business.

Amy was not aware of all this and she was amazed when she got to know “10-year celebration” being filmed at the restaurant. She had no idea their proposal was being filmed live for the breakfast show.

Amy said: “It was really unexpected – After the first time I thought it was never going to happen again.”

The couple is planning their wedding for next year. “It’s great being a dad after all we’ve been through,” said John.

“The first four weeks I struggled. I’m late having a child, but I’ve always looked forward to it.”

” It’s not easy, but you just do whatever you think’s right. You have to work together as a team.

“We’re both tired and he was a very ‘sicky’ baby. ‘It pushes you to your limits, but when he smiles it all just melts away.”
