A Hollywood director has stated that he is not going to take any ‘white dude’ as a lead actor in his upcoming movie (s).
Of course, all the indication gives a clear glimpse of the director – Jordan Peele.
Right after a successful box-office collection of his horror movie, ‘Us’, Jordan Peele apparently rejects to take any ‘white’ actor in the lead role for upcoming movies.
According to what he has stated, he doesn’t see himself casting any ‘white’ actor as the lead. The statement has been given during his appearance at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
He clearly states that it is not like he dislikes white actors. However, there are certainly other reasons.
This ‘Get Out’ director further explains that it happens to be a great piece of the story where he has seen the white actor’s potentials. From what he has stated, not everything that he stated is based on social justice or politics.
However, much of what he stated focused on the transition of him into filmmaking. It also aimed at highlighting how an actor must have control over their ego and risk their peril.
According to him, direction is all about hiring the right people who would listen to him and help him do the best out of the work. He also added that experiences have taught him in shelving his ego.
Ego becomes an easy outcome which comes out every now and then. A quality actor must learn to control it, for it might screw their career also.
The director’s ‘Us’ has garnered immense popularity with a whopping total of $88 million box office collection. As a matter of fact, it has is touted to come with the second largest opening for the live-action film.
Previously, Peele’s ‘Get Out’ had broken the records by scoring a total of $250 million on a $5 million budget. At the Upright Citizens Brigade, Peele stated that despite doubting this movie to be a success, he relished the challenges of making it a motion picture.
Peele reportedly states that he has dedicated a part of himself in creating a new horror movie based on mythology. To know more about the upcoming, you can stay tuned right here.
