If you love animals, you probably find it hard seeing, or even just knowing, how they get neglected by some people.
Tragically, animal abuse is very much real and affects thousands of animals each day. On top of that, the sentences for animal abuse are usually non-existent or too soft to make a significant change.
Fortunately, there’s a renowned, animal-loving judge who decided to put a stop to this – at least in his town. Michael (Mike) Cicconetti is determined to give animal abusers a taste of their own medicine to make sure they won’t succumb to mischief again.

Michael, an Ohio-based judge, had loved animals ever since his youth when he got his first dog. Now, he is a proud owner of Kasey, a 10-year-old Bernese mountain dog.
His passion for animals, however, is not evident merely at his home. He decided to bring it into his courtroom, and while he can’t change the law, he found a brilliant way to get back at those who abuse animals while offering them alternatives to jail time.
Michael’s Sentences
“These punishments won’t endanger anyone, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t deal with a little discomfort and embarrassment,” the judge said.
Recently, for example, Mike had to deal with a woman who let her dog live in complete filth. Seeing how rough the conditions of the pooch were, Michael thought it would be fair if she went through a similar experience.

And so, the judge told her she would have to spend an entire day at a dump yard, reflecting on her inhumane decisions. Needless to say, the woman wasn’t pleased with the verdict. That’s when Mike told her:
“I want you to go down to the county dump, to the landfill, and I want them to find the stinkiest, smelliest, God-awful odor place they can find in that dump and I want you to sit there for eight hours tomorrow, to think about what you did to that dog while you smell the odor. If you puke, you puke.”

Not long before that, in another case, a woman abandoned dozens of kittens in a forest in the middle of the night. Mike’s verdict was that the woman spends an entire night alone in the woods.
Michael’s application of creative sentences has gained him a lot of fame. He hopes to raise awareness through his punishments and prevent people from mistreating animals in the future.
