One unfortunate side effect of the current social media environment is that there are a lot of people willing to do almost anything just for the attention even if whatever stunt they’re attempting is stupid and/or dangerous.
Of course, such arguments will hardly dissuade people from trying.
Twenty-one-year-old Armand Akopyan is a self-described “professional trendsetter” from Brooklyn, New York, and his friends gave him a Lamborghini that he could use for a few days as a gift. That’s a pretty awesome gift that anyone would appreciate.
But rather than use the car for its intended purposes like going on a road trip or something, Akopyan decided that it would be more awesome to get run over by the supercar.
Of course, that wasn’t his intention but that’s how things eventually turned out. The stunt he attempted was to try to jump over the car head-on as it was speeding towards him, Kobe Bryant-style. Unfortunately, Akopyan was no Kobe Bryant and he apparently skipped the part where Bryant said, “Do not try this at home!”
As he jumped, Akopyan’s feet managed to clip part of the hood sending him cartwheeling in the air to land unceremoniously in the pavement. As Akopyan sits on the road apparently pondering the error of his ways, the scene is punctuated by one of his sneakers (which was flung off by the force of the impact with the car) which drops down from the sky a few seconds later.
But Akopyan was still lucky because it could have been much worse. He had landed on his rump but he easily could have landed on his head and been paralyzed or killed.
Akopyan, aka Mr. Sech, later shared a clip of the attempted stunt on Twitter and captioned it with: “why did I do this.” Exactly the question we’re all asking.
He explained his decision by saying: “I saw a few people do it and I’m really athletic so I said f*** it.”
As if that was supposed to make sense.
“Timing was super off though,” he added.
And that was a mild way of putting it.
He did say that he had “no injuries really,” which just emphasizes just how lucky he was considering he wasn’t even wearing any safety gear.
The Internet has not been as forgiving, though, with one person even commenting: “Ugh I would rather be hit by a Lamborghini then hang out with these guys!”
