Kamala Harris became the first woman to get the US Presidential Powers, for just a brief moment, on November 19.
The White House said that President Joe Biden handed over power to Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday while he was under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy. This made Harris become the first female acting president in US history as a result of the temporary delegation of power to her.
Mr. Biden’s first medical examination as president occurred on the eve of his 79th birthday. Ms. Harris assumed temporary command of the US military and nuclear weapons. According to officials, she performed her duties from her office in the West Wing of the White House.
Biden stated in a letter, which was released by the White House early Friday afternoon, “In view of present circumstances, I have determined to transfer temporarily the powers and duties of the office of President of the United States to the Vice President during the brief period of the procedure and recovery.”
He further wrote, “In accordance with the provisions of section 3 of the Twenty-Fifth Amendments to the United States Constitution, this letter shall constitute my written declaration that I am presently unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office of the President of the United States.”
In a statement to White House reporters, press secretary Jen Psaki told that the same procedure was followed back in 2002 and 2007, when then-President George W. Bush had to go through the same medical procedure.
President Biden will transfer power to Vice President Kamala Harris for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia today while getting a colonoscopy, the White House says. “The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time.”

According to a book written by his third press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, former President Donald Trump, 75, denied anesthesia for a routine treatment because he did not want to transfer power to then-Vice President Mike Pence.
Mr. Biden, the oldest president in US history, had his most recent full medical examination in December 2019.
