The Duchess of Cambridge grabbed all the attention as she wore the Lover’s Knot Tiara, to attend the Queen’s Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday night.
Kate, 37, and Prince William, 37, welcomed guests at the annual white-tie affair, which is one of the highlights of the royal calendar.
They joined other royal members at the Buckingham Palace, the Queen, 93, Prince Charles, 71, and the Duchess of Cornwall, 72, for the Diplomatic Reception. 1,000 guests attended the lavish event.
Kate Middleton, wore a floor-length navy velvet Alexander McQueen gown for the event, she accessorized with sparkling silver drop earrings and one of the Queen’s silver necklaces.
She completed her look with the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara – a piece given to the late royal on her wedding day which is very precious for Kate.
The white-tie Diplomatic Reception is the main social event of the year in London for the diplomatic community and it shows the importance of Queen, in terms of UK’s international relations.
The Queen joined Kate and William, she donned a white gown for the event, with white netting detail, designed by Angela Kelly. She also wore white gloves, an emerald necklace, and the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara, with pearl drops. With a sparkling smile, Queen greeted her guests.
Kate chooses the British designer’s gowns for formal occasions, most recently she wore at the Royal Variety Performance in November.
Kate, accessorized with the beautiful Nizam of Hyderabad necklace – a piece she took from the Queen.
When Queen got married in November 1947, she received as a gift. Earlier, Kate borrowed this necklace to attend a black-tie Portrait Gala in 2014 at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
William dressed in a black blazer and white shirt – pairing it with a white bow tie.
The event was attended by more than 1,000 people from around 130 countries, including members of the British government, past Prime Ministers and the Archbishops of Canterbury and York.
