Kate Middleton has urged parents to take care of themselves during these tough times in a touching message ahead of the Children’s Mental Health Week.
As the 39-year-old Duchess of Cambridge insisted in her video, parents should try to be “the very best versions” of themselves for the sake of their kids.
She also encouraged mothers and fathers to talk about their mental health to other people and to take care of themselves during these challenging times.
“This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings,” the duchess said in her video as she marked the beginning of the event that has been around since 2015.
“So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry – it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself.
“And while this is Children’s Mental Health Week there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too.”
The mother-of-three added: “Last year you told me just how important this was, that many of us find it hard to prioritize. This is a hugely challenging time for us all so please look after yourself too.
“Find those ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.”
Kate’s message for parents around the world comes as the duchess is spending lockdown at her Norfolk home together with her husband, Prince William, and their three children including Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George.
