Katy Perry has opened up about her commitment to making a change for the better as she revealed she is almost ready to go full-time vegan.
As the singer and songwriter explained in her tweet, both she and her dog, Nugget, will undergo a major change when it comes to their diets.
“I’m about 95% ready to be 100% VEGAN… my dog Nugget has been joining me on this journey for the past 4 monthz. Pray for us ok,” the California Gurls hitmaker wrote.
While many fans praised the pop star for planning to change to an animal cruelty-free diet, some people voiced their concerns over the singer’s decision to impose the vegan diet on her dog as well.
“I am vegan for 30 years. Some people don’t understand, some do, but I’m vegan because I want, not every one understand it but it feels good not to eat meat etc. Do what your heart tells you, the change starts with you,” one netizen wrote in support of Katy.
“You inspired me! I will try to be vegan too!! Go vegan!” another one suggested.
Not everyone, however, was impressed by Nugget’s new, nugget-free diet.
“Don’t put your dietary choices on your dog. If you want a vegan pet, get a rabbit. Unless your vet has diagnosed an allergy to all meat protein sources, feed your dog a balanced, feeding-trial proven diet,” someone said.
Another critic wrote: “PLEASE DONT TURN INTO THAT VEGAN TEACHER OMG THATS NOT GOOD FOR UR DOG.”
Defending the singer’s decision was PETA who shared a link to an article about a plant-based diet for animals.
“Wonderful news! We’re SO happy for you–and for Nugget, too. You’ll both love how it feels eating clean and helping animals. Some healthy vegan goodies Nugget will love,” they wrote.
Among the singer’s New Year resolutions, Katy also vowed to be “open to better” and meditate more.
“The theme of 2020: resilience. I’ll need to carry that into 2021 as well but now that we’re in a new year I’m gonna continue to be #opentobetter. I promised myself I would meditate more,” she recently revealed.
